Travel Tips

  • Safari Game Drive Tips Start early in the morning when animals are most active. Be patient—wildlife sightings often reward those who take time. Always follow your guide’s instructions for safety and better viewing. Keep quiet during sightings to avoid disturbing animals. Use binoculars for distant wildlife instead of asking the vehicle to move too often.
  • Photography Tips Use a camera with a zoom lens (70–300mm or higher recommended). Take advantage of golden hours (sunrise and sunset) for best lighting. Keep your camera ready at all times—wildlife moments happen quickly. Bring extra memory cards and batteries. Avoid using flash photography on animals.
  • What to Wear Wear neutral colors like khaki, beige, green, or brown. Dress in layers for changing temperatures. Bring a warm jacket for early morning and evening game drives. Wear comfortable walking shoes or safari boots. Avoid bright colors and camouflage clothing
  • Health & Comfort Tips Drink plenty of bottled water to stay hydrated. Use sunscreen (SPF 30+) even on cloudy days. Apply insect repellent, especially in the evenings. Carry basic personal medication and first aid essentials. Get enough rest between game drives to enjoy full-day safaris.
  • Packing Tips Use a soft duffel bag instead of a hard suitcase (especially for safari vehicles or flights). Pack light but include essentials—laundry services are available at most lodges. Keep important documents (passport, visa, insurance) in your hand luggage. Bring a power bank for charging devices during long game drives. Carry binoculars for enhanced wildlife viewing.
  • Money & Spending Tips Carry small US dollar notes for tips and small purchases. Credit cards are accepted in most lodges but may have transaction fees. Keep cash secure and avoid carrying large amounts. Exchange currency only at official banks or authorized bureaus.
  • Safari Etiquette Tips Never feed wildlife or attempt to touch animals. Stay inside the safari vehicle unless your guide says otherwise. Do not litter—keep the parks clean and protected. Respect local communities and Maasai culture. Avoid loud noise or sudden movements near animals.
  • Wildlife Viewing Tips Stay alert even when the vehicle is moving—wildlife can appear anytime. Look for movement in grass or trees (signs of predators). Ask your guide questions—they have deep knowledge of animal behavior. Be patient during predator tracking; it can take time but is rewarding. Respect animal space for safe and natural viewing.
  • Weather Tips Serengeti mornings and evenings can be cold—bring warm layers. Midday temperatures can be hot—light clothing is best. Rain may occur in green season; a light rain jacket is useful. Always check seasonal conditions before traveling.
  • Connectivity Tips Network coverage is limited in remote safari areas. Many lodges offer Wi-Fi, but it may be slow or unstable. Inform family or friends that you may be offline during game drives. Download offline maps or entertainment before your trip.
  • General Travel Tips Be flexible—wildlife movements are unpredictable. Trust your guide’s experience for the best sightings. Keep a positive mindset—every safari day is unique. Respect nature and enjoy the slow rhythm of the wilderness. Take time to simply observe and enjoy the scenery.
