Travel Tips

  • Book Your Safari Early Reserve your safari at least 3–6 months in advance, especially if you plan to travel during the peak season (June–October or December–March). Early booking ensures better accommodation availability and the best rates.
  • Carry Cash for Small Purchases While many lodges accept major credit cards, it is advisable to carry some US Dollars (USD) or Tanzanian Shillings (TZS) for tips, souvenirs, and small purchases in local communities.
  • Wear Neutral-Colored Clothing Choose clothing in khaki, beige, olive green, or brown. These colors help you blend into the natural environment and are less likely to attract insects. Avoid bright colors and camouflage-patterned clothing.
  • Stay Hydrated Drink plenty of bottled or filtered water throughout your safari, especially during warmer months. Dehydration can occur quickly during long game drives.
  • Protect Yourself from the Sun Use sunscreen with a high SPF, wear a wide-brimmed hat, sunglasses, and lightweight long-sleeved clothing to protect yourself from strong African sunshine.
  • Respect Wildlife Always follow your safari guide's instructions. Keep a safe distance from animals, remain inside the vehicle unless instructed otherwise, and avoid making loud noises that may disturb wildlife.
  • Bring a Good Camera A camera with a zoom lens is ideal for capturing wildlife from a safe distance. Carry extra batteries, memory cards, and a protective bag to guard against dust.
  • Keep Your Electronics Charged Bring a power bank and a universal travel adapter. Although most lodges provide electricity, charging opportunities during long game drives may be limited.
  • Prepare for Early Mornings Wildlife is most active during the cooler hours of the day. Early morning departures offer the best chances to see predators hunting and other animals beginning their day.
  • Purchase Travel Insurance Comprehensive travel insurance covering medical emergencies, trip cancellations, baggage loss, and emergency evacuation is highly recommended before traveling to Tanzania.
  • Tanzanians are known for their warm hospitality. Dress modestly when visiting villages, ask permission before photographing local people, and learn a few Swahili greetings such as "Jambo" (Hello) and "Asante" (Thank you).
  • Stay Flexible Wildlife moves freely in its natural habitat, so every safari is unique. Be patient, enjoy the journey, and trust your experienced guide to provide the best possible wildlife viewing opportunities.
  • Keep Important Documents Safe Store your passport, travel insurance, visa, and other essential documents in a secure place. It is also a good idea to keep digital and printed copies as backups.
  • Disconnect and Enjoy Nature Although Wi-Fi is available at many lodges, take time to disconnect from your devices and fully immerse yourself in Tanzania's incredible landscapes, wildlife, and unforgettable safari experiences.
